Is Your Horse Holding Back?

Hidden Tension

Horses often mask restrictions in the fascial system until they show up as poor performance, resistance, or subtle gait changes that are hard to trace back to a single cause.

Performance Plateaus

Even with quality training and care, fascial restrictions can limit how freely your horse moves, preventing them from reaching their full athletic and working potential.

Recovery Setbacks

After injury or surgery, scar tissue and restricted fascia can impede true healing. Without addressing the fascial system, recovery remains incomplete and reinjury risk stays high.

The body remembers every injury. Myofascial Release helps us listen to what it is telling us, and guide it back toward ease and balance.

A Gentle, Proven Approach That Works

Myofascial Release is a hands-on technique that addresses the root cause of restriction and dysfunction, not just the symptoms. By working with the horse's fascial system, you can restore movement, ease long-held tension, and help your horse perform and live with greater comfort.

This comprehensive guide brings together the same techniques Ruth has refined through 50+ years of hands-on practice and international teaching, including presentations at the International Symposium on Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy in Veterinary Medicine.

  • Complete evaluation forms and protocols you can use immediately
  • Step-by-step techniques covering every major body region
  • Home program techniques to use between professional visits
  • Safety guidelines and equine handling best practices
  • Rider-specific considerations for the horse-and-rider partnership

Written by a Pioneer in Equine Myofascial Therapy

Ruth Mitchell-Golladay became a licensed physical therapist in 1972 and opened her private practice in Dallas, Texas in 1978. After discovering Myofascial Release through John F. Barnes, PT in 1987, she recognized she had found techniques capable of producing true, lasting healing rather than temporary symptom relief.

Her work with horses grew naturally from her human practice. As a Certified Equine Body Worker and primary instructor with Equinology, Ruth brings the same precision and depth to equine care that she built her clinical reputation on. Her equine MFR work has been presented at the International Symposium on Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy in Veterinary Medicine.

Ruth is also the author of Canine Myofascial Release, and has led over 130 seminars across six countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and South Africa.
